What should I do if I am charged VAT (Value-Added Tax) again upon delivery?

Last Updated:

Any VAT, customs duties, or other import taxes imposed by the destination country must be paid by the customer upon delivery.

When shipping packages to certain countries such as Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, and New Zealand, you may be required to prepay VAT such as GST or SST during Charge 2.

In such cases, FROM JAPAN pays the VAT on your behalf, so in principle, you do not need to pay VAT again when the package arrives in the destination country.

However, in rare cases, the selected shipping carrier or local customs may request VAT payment again.

If this happens, we kindly ask that you make the payment first.

After completing the payment, please contact our customer service with the following information:

  • A screenshot showing the actual amount charged by the bank or shipping company

  • A screenshot of the invoice or payment receipt received locally

Once we confirm the above, we will begin the refund process and issue a refund to your original payment method.
