Why was my bid unsuccessful despite it being the highest bid?

Last Updated:

Reasons for not winning an auction often take one of the following two patterns:

Both are as a result of the JDirectitems Auction system, and we do not provide detailed instructions regarding personal bid results.

We appreciate your understanding.

1. In the case that the amount of the highest bids received is the same, but the timing of the bids differs:

If the highest amount bid is the same as another bidder, the "bid which was placed first" will be given priority.

Therefore, even if the displayed bid amount is the same, if another bidder's bid is placed before one's own, that person's bid will be judged to be the winning bid.

2. In the case that you set a higher maximum bid than other bidders (automatic bid):

JDirectItems Auction uses an "automatic bidding system" where bids are automatically placed within a pre-set maximum bid range. If another bidder has set a higher maximum bid than your bid, a re-bid will be automatically placed after your bid, and that bidder may ultimately be declared the winner with a higher bid. *In this case, you may temporarily be displayed as the highest bidder on your screen, but may not actually win the auction at the end.
